2015-Jan-11 - The tire was half off

Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady Involved in Car Accident

BOSTON New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was in a two vehicle accident near his home Thursday morning but was unhurt and hours later practiced as usual with his team just days before the season opener.

The crash, at an intersection in Boston's Back Bay area, knocked over a light pole and sent a passenger in the minivan that collided with Brady's car to a hospital with injuries that were serious but not considered life threatening, a police report said.

A witness told The Associated Press that the two time Super Bowl MVP was approaching the intersection on a green light when his black Audi sedan collided Wholesale Fake Sunglasses with the minivan.

The 21 year old driver of the Mercury Villager minivan, Ludgero Rodrigues, was cited Wholesale Sunglasses Thursday for failing to stop at a red light, based on witnesses statements, police said. Two other people in the minivan were able to exit and had no visible injuries, they said.

The police report, which did not name Brady, said the driver of the Audi had no visible injuries and was evaluated by Emergency Medical Services. It said a 49 year old passenger had to be freed with the Jaws of Life and was taken to a hospital.

Rodrigues' driver's license had been suspended at least five times in three years, Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles spokeswoman Ann Dufresne said. Last year, his license was suspended for 180 days after he was arrested for operating under the influence and refused to take a blood alcohol test, Dufresne said.

RMV records also show that Rodrigues had been charged with a number of moving and traffic violations.

A telephone listing for Rodrigues could not immediately be found Thursday.

Brady's father had just arrived in Boston from the family's California home early Thursday and found out about the accident when he got off his flight.

"I understand he's fine, but I haven't talked to him," Tom Brady Cheap Wholesale Sunglasses Sr. told the AP outside his son's home three blocks from the accident site.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick told the team about the accident before practice and said Brady might be a bit late, linebacker Tully Banta Cain said.

"I was hoping, obviously, that he was OK, but I saw him walking in. He had a smile on his face, no abrasions, so I think he's fine," Banta Cain said.

The Patriots open their season at home Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Brady remains in talks with the Patriots about a contract extension and is entering the final year of his current contract a six year, $57.3 million deal.

During the 11 minute portion of afternoon practice that reporters were allowed to watch Thursday, Brady, in full uniform with pads and helmet, stretched as usual with his teammates. Then, as he usually does, he threw soft passes of 20 to 30 yards to teammates.

"I want to thank the safety personnel for their service, and express our concern and support for the well being of the occupants of the other vehicle," Brady's agent, Don Yee, said in a statement. after reports of an accident, police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll said.

One of Brady's neighbors, a 74 year old woman who asked that her name not be used for fear of being hounded by reporters, was walking her dogs when she saw the accident.

She said Brady was traveling south on Gloucester and approaching the intersection on a green light when his black Audi collided with a fast moving red Ford Aerostar that was westbound on Commonwealth.

"The red car went up in the air, sideways. . The tire was half off," the woman said.

Afterward, Replica Sunglasses she said Brady immediately got out of his car.

The woman had been walking toward the intersection when she saw the cars on their collision course. She took a step backward, tripped on the curb and hit her head, she said.

She sat next to Brady in an ambulance, but neither was taken to a hospital. She said she did not realize he was the star quarterback until later.

Bill Barron said he was in his apartment overlooking the intersection when he heard a collision that sounded like "a bolt of lightning."

When he looked out the window, he saw the driver of the car picking glass off his clothes and wiping himself off with a towel. He didn't realize until later that it was Brady.

2015-Jan-11 - leading the Chicago

Dionne Miller's 'Happenings at Halas'

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) The NFL season starts in mere hours and the Wholesale Handbags Bears are glad they have a little bit more time. Chicago opener against the Bengals Sunday is one of the more anticipated Week 1 games simply because of all the story lines that tie into it: rookie head coach, rookie right side of the offensive line and another new offensive game plan, not to mention 37 players in contract years, including the quarterback.Jay Cutler says he more comfortable than he been in the past and the head coach has only seen the even keel side of Jay. But we all know there is another side the fiery competitive side that shoved J Webb and walked away from Mike Tice. Trestman knows this, but won be fiery back.Offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer has maintained they were looking for the best five guys to protect Cutler. No one imagined that would include both rookies Kyle Long and Jordan Mills, along with free agent upgrades Jermon Bushrod and Matt Slauson. Only center Roberto Garza remains from the offensive line that last year allowed 44 quarterback sacks, the fourth most in the NFC. Garza admitted he never seen that kind of turnover around him, but it was clearly necessary. Now let see what happens against one of the best defensive lines in the league. The Bengals front is led by Geno Atkins. He has a two time pro bowl presence that this week became the highest paid player on the team, signing a 5 year $55 million extension. Oh, and he had 12.5 sacks last season. He a lot for a veteran to handle, but the responsibility of keeping him away from Cutler starts with Wholesale Bags a couple of rookies. Yikes! Everyone knows there will be bumps along the way and mistakes. The idea is to minimize it and get both Long and Mills to embrace every little success along the way and build on it.Facing a Bengals front seven that is as dominant as the Bears will be a great measuring stick to see where the offense is and Cheap Bags where they need to go. Sunday can get here soon enough.A clean injury report is a good sign, but hardly means there are no decisions to be made. Trestman said decisions on Earl Bennett and who will start at Middle Linebacker won happen until after the final practice of the week on Friday. But Lance Briggs was very vocal that DJ Williams is the veteran. Jon Bostic did what he was supposed to do in the preseason, but DJ was brought in to be the starting middle linebacker. And despite missing more than a month, he healthy and should get the start for Game 1. Briggs did it in 2011 and Urlacher has done it as well. When you know the league and the game, it definitely easier to step in and be effective. Chemistry and conditioning are what Williams missed with his calf injury. Getting back on the field in a live game is the only way to catch up quick.Baltimore Ravens win puts Bears on top of NFC North divisionBaltimore Ravens win puts Bears on top of NFC North divisionUpdated: Tuesday, December 17 2013 4:34 PM EST2013 12 17 21:34:48 GMTChicago Bears fans around the city may be extending thanks to the Baltimore Ravens today.Chicago Bears fans around the city may be extending thanks to the Baltimore Ravens today.61 yard field goal beats Lions; Puts Bears in first place61 yard field goal beats Lions; Puts Bears in first placeJustin Tucker career long 61 yard field goal with 38 seconds left lifted the Baltimore Ravens to an 18 16 win over the Detroit Lions in a Monday night matchup with major playoff implications.Justin Tucker career long 61 yard field goal with 38 seconds left lifted the Baltimore Ravens to an 18 16 win over the Detroit Lions in a Monday night matchup with major playoff implications. With QB debate over, Bears focus on playoff runWith QB debate over, Bears focus on playoff runThe great quarterback debate in Chicago is over. Says She Is Not The 'Female Sandusky' PHOTOS

The 27 year old, who also worked as a high school teacher in Kentucky, was accused of having sex with a 17 year old student last year. The case has earned her the nickname the "female [Jerry] Sandusky," linking her to the former Penn State assistant football coach who was convicted of sexually assaulting 10 boys.

"To read those things and not be able to comment, not be able to stick up for myself is not fair," Jones told ABC News. "People don't know the Replica Handbags real me. There's blogs and postings out there that I have slept with numerous people. I married my high school sweetheart. I just asked the general public to maybe hold their judgment a little bit longer until the truth comes out."

In April, the former high school teacher and one time captain of the Cincinnati Ben Gals cheerleading squad plead not guilty to charges of first degree sexual abuse and unlawful use of electronic devices.

The prosecution alleges the woman sent "steamy" texts to her student and later told him to "deny everything," according to ABC News.

According to Fox19, Jones' attorney, Eric Deters, filed a motion to dismiss charges against the former cheerleader stating: "The Commonwealth does not have a single witness that there was any sex. There is not a single sealed text message that would reflect there was sex in any state, much less Kentucky. There is no confession. There is no admission. There is only speculative conjecture."

Jones continues to maintain her innocence and says the allegations against her have been fueled by gossip.

"The biggest challenge of teaching high school is rumors," she told Fox19. "That's what this is. This whole thing has gotten completely out of control. At the end of the day, everyone will know the truth."

Jones first made headlines when she landed on Nik Richie's blog, The Dirty, in 2010.

Richie's website featured postings about Jones from anonymous sources, who alleged the former cheerleader had sex with the entire Bengals team, had STDs, and chi hair straightener even engaged in sexual intercourse in her classroom. Jones spoke about her issue with The Dirty during an interview with Anderson Cooper in November of last year, saying, "One day I was this credible teacher that they looked up to and listened to. The next day I was a slut to them. I had a student come in and say I cannot come into my classroom and learn because you had sex in here and you're a slut."

2015-Jan-11 - to take the next step

Jeff Demps a solid move for Patriots

Olympic sprinter Jeff Demps, but it was the AFC champion Patriots that Demps selected. It's a win win for both sides. The Patriots get a speedster for the return game Demps averaged 30 yards per kickoff return at Florida and a solid backup to running backs Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen.

Demps was on the United States' silver medal 4x100 relay team in the London Olympics, and is the only Florida athlete to win a national championship in two sports: football and track.

Welker: Time to move on

It is a play Wes Welker won't soon forget, a costly drop in the Patriots' 21 17 loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. As the Patriots were driving in the fourth quarter, Welker was open over the middle on 2nd and 11 from the Giants' 44, but he dropped Tom Brady's pass.

"Most critical situation, and I let the team down," Welker said afterward.

But Welker isn't using the Super Bowl loss as motivation for the upcoming season. "You just have to move on," he said. "You can't get too wrapped up in any of that stuff, so you move on and do the best you can the next time."

Welker is coming off a brilliant season, in which he gained a career high 1,569 receiving yards on 122 catches. He'd hoped to sign a multi year contract in the off season, but wound up being designated the team's franchise player. He's playing on a one year tender worth $9.5 million.

Bitter about not getting a long term deal? Nope.

"You can't let that get in the way of something you love to do," Welker said of his contract. "I'm very happy with the situation I'm in."

Armed and chi flat iron official website dangerous

There have been questions about the arm strength of Bengals second year quarterback Andy Dalton, but he seemed to answer them with a three touchdown performance Wholesale Snapbacks Hats in a 24 19 win over the Falcons on Thursday. Green.

Said Dalton: "My arm feels great, and you can tell everybody that it's not even close to what I've got if I need it."

We like this guy.

Tough call

Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb was chi flat irons sacked for a safety Friday night by Oakland's Tommy Kelly, who said Kolb "is scared back there. Anytime anybody gets close to him he starts looking at the refs. As a defensive lineman you love a quarterback like that."

Kolb responded by calling Kelly "clueless," adding "I don't mind people criticizing my play. Don't ever question my toughness."

Kolb is battling Fordham product John Skelton for the Arizona starting job.

A step back for Tannehill

Dolphins first year coach Joe Philbin had hoped to name his starting quarterback this week, but it may not happen.

"I don't know that, to be honest with you," Philbin said after Friday night's 23 17 loss to the Panthers in Carolina.

The hope for Philbin was to see rookie Ryan Tannehill end the competition with a strong showing against the Panthers but it didn't happen. Tannenhill, who played the entire first half, was 11 of 23 for 100 yards and a 60.1 rating. Miami went three and out in four of Tannehill's six drives and punted five times.

Now Philbin must choose among Tannehill, incumbent Matt Moore or David Garrard, who is out for the remainder of training camp with a knee problem.

Good work from Gerhart

As the Vikings patiently await the return to game action of running back Adrian Peterson, who is coming off reconstructive knee surgery, Toby Gerhart has enjoyed a solid preseason.

"It feels good to get out here and show what I can do," Gerhart said after carrying the ball six times for 30 yards against the Bills on Friday night. "I think the last two games I've done OK to show that I can carry the load if need be." Gerhart, a 231 pound power runner, had five carries for 31 yards last week against the 49ers.

Quick hits

Still too soon to know if Blaine Gabbert is ready to take the next step after a difficult rookie season, but he has looked sharp so far in preseason. He completed 13 of 16 passes with two touchdowns against the Saints on Friday.

Titans coach Mike Munchak can't Cheap Snapbacks be comfortable with his quarterback situation. He's hoping Jake Locker can be a starter, but Locker has not looked good so far. Latest example: He went 4 of 11 for 21 yards, no TDs and an interception against the Buccaneers on Friday.

2015-Jan-11 - have notable wins against

McGhee's value to Cats goes beyond stats

Now a senior, DeNarius McGhee has governed Montana State's offense immeasurably throughout his career.

Since the day he was named (anointed?) the starting quarterback before the 2010 season, the Bobcats have put up roughly 35 points and 445 yards per game. And that's the best run of sustained offensive production in school history.

But McGhee's passing numbers weren't up to par in MSU's previous game before its bye week, a 36 7 rough up of Northern Arizona at Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman. McGhee completed just seven passes for 72 yards both career lows and served up his first interception of the year.

Still, coach Rob Ash doesn't buy the notion that McGhee was Nike NFL Jerseys Wholesale floundering. The low totals weren't cause for apprehension. It was a result of the flow of the game, he said.

"They had to defend (McGhee) in the run game," Ash said last week. "He scrambled for at least cheap nfl jerseys two first downs, he ran for a touchdown. His presence was extremely valuable.

"Passing game wise, they were right on top of us. They pressed us man to man, and we didn't have a lot of opportunities. Plus, the run game started to work and we were ahead. It was a good way to keep the ball away from their offense. The game plan morphed toward the running game and there was no reason to go away from it."

McGhee missed two games earlier in the season because of a separated throwing shoulder, and he uncharacteristically has thrown just one touchdown pass so far. For record seekers, it doesn't bode well (McGhee came into the season on the cusp of several individual Big Sky Conference marks).

But within a team concept, the Cats are perhaps as dangerous on offense as they've been in the past four seasons. Cody Kirk's hard nosed running and the emergence of game breaker Shawn Johnson as an every down back give MSU one of the most dangerous rushing attacks in the conference.

The Bobcats, at 2 0 in the Big Sky and 4 2 overall, are right where they expect to be in the mix for the league crown.

And you can only keep McGhee contained for so long. He's bound for more big plays and more big passing games before he exits stage left at the end of this season, perhaps starting this Saturday at Weber State.

Takeaways = turnaround

Montana's defense stole the ball from UC Davis twice during Wholesale Jerseys its 42 7 romp Saturday, as linebacker Brock Coyle and safety Bo Tully each made interceptions.

That puts the Grizzlies at plus 10 in turnover margin through six games, which leads the Big Sky Conference and ranks in a tie for fourth in the FCS.

There are many factors to Montana's resurgence after missing the playoffs last season: A powerful offensive line, tough red zone defense and limiting penalties are among them. But a rebound in turnover margin has tipped the scale.

Takeaways were the key to Montana's run to seven conference titles and three national championship game appearances under coach Bobby Hauck from 2003 09. Combined in that span, the Griz were an amazing plus 91 in turnover margin. That added up to 80 victories.

In Robin Pflugrad's two year stint as coach, Montana was a combined plus 4 on the turnover ledger minus 7 in 2010 when it missed the playoffs, and plus 11 in 2011 when it advanced to the semifinals.

The Grizzlies were minus 2 last season while going 5 6 in Mick Delaney's first year as coach. This year they're back on the plus side by double digits, and sit 5 1 overall and 2 1 in the league.

Blend that with a power running game that's cranking on all cylinders and Jordan Johnson's execution of UM's play action passing game, and you've got a contender.

With two more TD throws Saturday, Johnson now has 16 touchdowns passes and zero interceptions. He's thrown 144 consecutive passes without being picked off dating back to his sophomore season of 2011. Johnson has thrown just three INTs combined in his previous 14 games.

Bengals bounce back

A 40 26 home victory over Northern Colorado on Saturday was a special one for Idaho State and coach Mike Kramer.

With the win, the Bengals snapped a 17 game conference losing streak, and ended a skid of 21 consecutive losses to Division I competition dating back to a 50 20 victory over UNC on Sept. 17, 2011.

Idaho Sate is 3 3 overall, which marks its best start after six games since 2005 when it was 4 2. The three victories match the Bengals' win total in the previous two seasons combined.

Xavier Finney rushed for 146 yards in the win on Saturday. 5 in The Sports Network's latest Top 25 poll, released Monday. And with the big win at UC Davis, the Grizzlies (5 1) slid ahead one spot to No. 10.

No. 4 Eastern Washington (4 2) rolled to a 35 14 victory at North Dakota on Saturday, and wholesale nfl jerseys jumped ahead two spots. Northern Arizona (4 2), in spite of a 39 38 win over Sacramento State, dipped four spots to No. 19.

Nationally, three undefeated teams remain in the poll: No. 1 North Dakota State (6 0), No. 6 Coastal Carolina (6 0) and No. 8 Fordham (7 0).

Keep an eye on Fordham. The Rams, of the Patriot League, have notable wins against Villanova, Lehigh and Division I FBS Temple. In last week's 34 12 victory over Georgetown, quarterback Michael Nebrich tied an FCS single game record with 20 consecutive completions, and finished with 405 yards passing.
